iSwifter Launches Version 4.0 Focused on Facebook Games After Seeing 2 Million Minutes of Facebook Game Play Time on iPads in 3 Months

Zynga's CityVille, FrontierVille, Empires & Allies; Playdom's Gardens of Time; Kabam's Dragons of Atlantis; Backyard Monsters and Slotomania Are Among the Top 10 Played Games Using the iSwifter Cloud-Based Flash Browser for Social Games

After hundreds of thousands of downloads of its Apple-approved cloud-based Flash browser for Social Games and MMOs, iSwifter today revealed some key statistics about the demand for Facebook games on the iPad.

An analysis of customer traffic through the iSwifter social games browser has revealed that consumers are not waiting for Facebook, or social game publishers like Zynga, to launch iPad versions of popular Flash-based games such as CityVille or Empires & Allies. In fact, iSwifter found many users are willing to pay iSwifter to access the otherwise free-to-play games, if they can be played on the iPad. Only popular games like CrowdStar's It Girl, which has a native iPad version of the It Girl Facebook game app, are not played using iSwifter. Thus, the company is now launching iSwifter 4.0 focused completely on an optimized user interface for Facebook gamers.

Key iSwifter findings:

  • Half a million users have downloaded iSwifter and are playing nearly 2,000 unique games on Facebook
  • 40 percent of all gaming time on iSwifter is spent on Zynga games
  • 20 percent of iSwifter users are willing to pay iSwifter for a free-to-play game
  • iSwifter users spent nearly 2 Million minutes on Facebook gaming in the last 3 months
  • iSwifter user engagement with Facebook social games is as high or higher than user engagement when those games are played directly on Facebook
  • Zynga's CityVille and Empires & Allies are the most popular Facebook social games being played on iSwifter

iSwifter's findings, according to Founder Rajat Gupta, are a clear example that disruption is occurring in mobile gaming -- and portals such as iSwifter make it harder for social game publishers to control their customers.

"While we hear the Facebook app for the iPad is coming soon, we don't believe it will include the ability to play the most popular Flash-based Facebook games," says Gupta. "Almost all the big games on Facebook are built in Flash which doesn't run on iPads or iPhones. But iSwifter has created a large following of paying users who love playing Facebook games on their iPads."
