Minister Peter Penashue and Minister Iris Evans Meet for Their First Bilateral Meeting

This meeting provided an opportunity for both Ministers to get to know one another and discuss issues of importance to Calgary and Alberta.

"I understand the concerns of Albertans because they are shared by all Canadians," said Minister Penashue. "Albertans, like all Canadians, want to know that their governments are committed to ensuring that Canada's economic recovery continues. I assured Minister Evans that our government will continue to collaborate with Alberta, as well as with other Provinces and Territories, to ensure economic growth and prosperity."

"I think it is delightful that Minister Penashue made time for us, especially at a time when everyone in Calgary is kicking back and having a good time," Said Minister Evans. " Today was the first meeting of many and the beginning of a great relationship between our governments."

Ministers Penashue and Evans noted that this meeting was constructive and expressed that they look forward to maintaining an open dialogue between the two governments.
