New Sites Will Give More Utahns a Convenient Place to Pick Up Their Monthly Co-op Orders

The Community Food Co-op (http://foodco-op.net), a Utah non-profit agency, announced today that it has added four new team distribution sites in Utah. The new sites will give residents in the Grantsville, Glendale, Ogden and Farr West areas convenient locations where they can pick up their monthly co-op orders.

The four volunteer-led team sites bring the total number of distribution sites to 53. Sites in Utah range from Springville to Farr West and from Grantsville to Heber. A complete list can be found at https://foodco-op.net/distribution_site/list. Delivery is also available for home-bound members.

"Adding these new team distribution sites will allow us to bring affordable, nutritious food to more people in Utah," said George Neckel, director of the Community Food Co-op of Utah. "We combine the buying power of our members to offer a wide range of food, from produce to meats to other staples at a deeply discounted price."

The new team sites are located at:

  • Grantsville Senior Center, 120 S. Center Street, Grantsville, UT
  • Habitat for Humanity ReStore, 1276 S. 500 W., Glendale, UT
  • Lomond Gardens, 550 Grant Ave., Ogden, UT
  • Westwood Village, 1111 N. 2000 W., Farr West, UT

Members order by the first Friday of the month online, via telephone, mail or in-person. They pick up their orders on a Saturday morning later in the month at the team distribution site of their choice. There are no limits to the orders, no monthly commitment and no limits to the number of people who can pick up at a distribution site. The Co-op accepts credit/debit cards online; debit/credit cards, checks and food stamps by mail; and cash, if paying in person at the organization's office.

There's no cost to become a member, but people are encouraged to donate at least $5.00 for their lifetime contribution when they become members. Members are encouraged to contribute 2 hours per month volunteering in the community and 2 hours per year volunteering with the Co-op.

"Having a team distribution site in Farr West and Westwood Village gives people in our area easier access to the benefits of the Co-op," said Bernice Francom, who volunteers every month and is the team leader at the new site. "The great food, very low prices and the good feeling that comes from helping the community are a couple of reasons why I volunteer here for the distribution day every month."

Utahns who don't have convenient access to a team distribution site are encouraged to contact the Co-op about starting a new one in their area.

The Community Food Co-op also holds a Market Sale on Mondays from 3:30 - 6:30 p.m. at their warehouse, 1726 S. 700 W. in Salt Lake City, as well as mobile market sales at different locations and times around the community. (https://foodco-op.net/mobile_market)
