Vela Systems and Ziggurat Collaborate to Bring BIM to the Field

Burlington, MA, July 06, 2011 --(PR.com)-- Users of Vela Systems field management software can now extend the benefits of Building Information Modeling (BIM) to any 2D-designed project or any owner looking to convert existing 2D facility information to 3D. The collaboration between Vela Systems and Ziggurat helps project owners, managers, architects and engineers streamline coordination, management and commissioning processes by quickly and efficiently converting any 2D-planned project into a 3D coordination model, using Ziggurat technology, and taking it to the field as a BIM project.

Ziggurat requires no pre-installed software or learning of new technologies, allowing engineers, architects and contractors to continue using their preferred AutoCAD® or similar 2D software with Ziggurat to quickly and accurately get their 2D designs converted into 3D coordination BIM in Autodesk® Navisworks®. Navisworks can be brought into the Vela Systems' Field BIM® platform and the data can be used in the field.

Field BIM for commissioning and owner handover is the process of harmonizing and integrating as-installed information and documentation from construction quality and commissioning programs in the field and at the Point of Construction™ with BIM to create new efficiencies in project delivery, in transfer to the owner for beneficial use and in ongoing operations and energy utilization.
