Lester Aldrich Joins New Mexico Cattle Hedging Firm Zia Commodities
ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. - (BUSINESS WIRE) - Zia Commodities, a New Mexico-based cattle hedging firm, today announced
it was joining forces with commodities reporter Lester Aldrich to
provide insight into market developments, allowing the firm to better
position customers to view market moves and minimize risk.
Aldrich has been associated with animal agriculture his entire life.
Growing up the son of a country veterinarian, he was introduced to
livestock and livestock producers at an early age. Aldrich worked on
dairy farms in high school and college, where he received a degree in
Agricultural Journalism from South Dakota State University. He covered
lumber markets from the mid-1970's to mid-1980's, when he gradually
shifted into grains and then livestock coverage.
"Lester has been immersed in the cattle market for years, and his 38
years of commodity reporting will prove to be an incredible asset for
analyzing the state of affairs," said Sean Perez, owner of Zia
Commodities.
Aldrich has been covering commodity markets since September 1972,
beginning with a dedicated wire service called Commodity News Service.
The company changed hands, and grew to become Knight-Ridder Financial
Services, which was eventually sold to Bridge News. From there, Aldrich
moved to Dow Jones Newswires, where he covered cattle markets.
