Connecticut Homeowner Ronni Mandell Addresses Congressional and Attorney General Complicity with Wall Street Banks

Robo-signing slid under the rug by Washington lawmakers

According to Mandell, "Any who wishes to throw stones and make remarks about homeowners being irresponsible should know their perception is unfounded in truth for most of us. In the present economy, it doesn't take a rocket scientist to know that being without a job translates into difficulties for many trying to pay their bills. Many of us had A-1 credit. Because of shenanigans by Wall Street bankers and with absolute approval of Washington lawmakers, we are now on the brink of economic Armageddon."

Mandell is issuing the following statement, in attempts to spotlight issues in the mortgage lending industry that are being ignored.

"Congress bailed out the banks with billions and now we are trillions in the hole, at the mercy of the entire world - but bankers continue business as usual, inventing new ways to gamble our country away and leave many more Americans either homeless, in despair or both."

"Property values continue to plummet, and Wall Street banks won't write down the principal on mortgages at the urging of the National Mortgage Bankers Association and of most Republicans and some Democrats in Congress. Why should the banks worry? Their bread has been buttered on both sides and will continue - unless 'We, the People' shake them back into the realities of what Thomas Jefferson wanted for the people of this country - the people Congress should represent, not Wall Street bankers who have become the engine in our government. That's not good for our growth - only theirs.

"If lawmakers should grow a spine overnight and right these wrongs, our country could recover. We can't count on that action. Congressional leaders are content with calling bankers each and every day to see what bankers need while ignoring the public's calls, e-mails and letters.

"We must stand up now - or we will perish.

"I recently discovered many robo-signings by several well-known robo-signers on assignments recorded at the local property clerk's office after an extensive title search on the property where I live. Proof will be provided on request.

"Now the property that Bank of America (Servicer) and the investor (Bank of New York-Mellon) wish to foreclose on, has a clouded title. This situation is just like the one Sarah Palin discovered on her recent home purchase in Arizona which, incidentally, is a real robo-signer hamlet.

"The investor denied me an in-house modification, and Bank of America denied a HAMP modification. Now I am left with no options. I'm still working for the same company for over 25 years; I'm a taxpayer also, and my husband - to remedy his loss of income - just retired early at the age of 62, so we could keep trying to pay the bills. Bank of America has broken my heart as I love my home, which we didn't purchase until we were both in our early 50s. The biggest pain of all will be having to give away our two adopted greyhounds as they are our family, and we love them.

"If you are a homeowner and need free advice as to how to deal with the banks, call, and we will always be around regardless of what Bank of America and Bank of New York-Mellon decide to do.

"Just one more thing: please read and reflect on Thomas Jefferson's view of big banks with too much power:

'I believe that banking institutions are more dangerous to our liberties than standing armies. If the American people ever allow private banks to control the issue of their currency, first by inflation, then by deflation, the banks and corporations that will grow up around [the banks] will deprive the people of all property until their children wake-up homeless on the continent their fathers conquered. The issuing power should be taken from the banks and restored to the people, to whom it properly belongs.' [Thomas Jefferson, 1802]

"I wish only the best to all Americans, patriots, our fighting men and women, and taxpayers."
