Keeping Dolphins in Captivity Gives Turkey a Poor Image
Comment on story 'Scandal Defames Turkish Holiday Hotel'
I refer to the article headed: 'Scandal Defames Turkish Holiday Hotel'. Dolphins are wild animals and should remain so. The best place to see these amazing creatures is in their natural habitat and any tricks that they perform, will be of their own making! The world's public has rightly condemned the capture of these intelligent animals for public display in Dolphinariums. A concrete prison is a more apt name.
It would seem the hotel in question unwittingly made a 'Big' mistake! I therefore hope that other hotels and regions of Turkey have taken note! Keeping dolphins in captivity is giving Turkey a poor image and will do nothing to help the economy, in fact, it will do the exact opposite.
Tribute must be paid to the Mayor of Bodrum for action taken in closing down the Dolphinarium. I hope other Town Mayors with Dolphinariums in their regions will do the same soon!
I call upon the good people of Turkey to make your country a 'dolphin friendly' one!
Yours faithfully,
