JDA Software Announces Industry-Leading Demand Management and Supply Chain Planning Scalability Benchmarking Results
SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. - (BUSINESS WIRE) - JDA
Software Group, Inc. (NASDAQ: JDAS), The Supply Chain
Company, today announced the results of JDA's largest, most
complex supply chain benchmarking study to date. JDA's Performance
Engineering team tested version 7.7 of the JDA
Demand and JDA
Fulfillment supply chain planning and optimization solutions
leveraging real-world complexities, scale and process flows
representative of today's largest-volume businesses. Running on IBM
Power 750 and IBM Power 780 servers with IBM AIX operating system and
IBM WebSphere Application Server, JDA successfully demonstrated the
ground-breaking benchmark for the JDA Demand and JDA Fulfillment
complete week-end batch flow in less time than the typical week-end
processing window for more than 200 million demand forecasting units
(DFUs) and stock-keeping units (SKUs).
Raising the Bar in Demand Management and End-to-End Supply Chain
Planning Practices
JDA Demand and JDA Fulfillment are part of JDA's industry-leading supply
chain planning and optimization solution set. These comprehensive
solutions enable the world's leading retailers and suppliers to optimize
supply chain decisions with accurate, integrated demand visibility and
management along with the ability to profitably balance supply and
demand for maximum supply chain cost savings. Reflecting JDA's ongoing
organic investment in supply chain planning and optimization solution
innovation, the latest releases of JDA Demand and JDA Fulfillment,
version 7.7, raise the bar on these industry-proven solutions.
Architectural enhancements enable unparalleled scalability gained
through compressed data storage. The ability to support this extreme
level of scalability without compromising on depth of functionality
further reinforces JDA's position as an industry leader.
"While the ability to scale will benefit any company engaged in demand
management or end-to-end supply chain planning, the biggest benefits
will be for the large retailers that work with hundreds of millions of
SKUs," said Wayne Usie, senior vice president, retail, JDA Software.
"Retailers looking to leverage advanced planning tools for store-level
forecasting and replenishment need technology platforms that can support
their performance requirements in an economical manner. The right
technology enables scaling across the entire network down to the
SKU/store level. JDA is excited to provide unrivaled scalability without
sacrificing critical pieces of functionality that differentiate our
customers' supply chains."
About the Benchmarking Study: Setting New Standards
Using a "retail" data model significantly more complex and
computationally intensive than models used in earlier JDA benchmarks,
the study involved more than 200 million SKUs including 40,000 items at
5,000 stores sourced from 20 distribution centers and 205 vendor
locations. The batch flow consisted of processes required to complete an
end-to-end weekly cycle including, but not limited to, aggregating
history across multiple hierarchy levels, calculating the time-phased
statistical forecasts, reconciling the forecasts across multiple levels
and generating a time-phased replenishment plan with optimized orders.
The performance, scalability and reliability test results demonstrate
that the JDA processes scale for large enterprise implementations and
can meet the performance needs of leading high-volume companies.
"This benchmarking study validated the significant performance
enhancements in JDA Demand 7.7 over the last version of this leading
product as evidenced by staggering demand-side processing time
improvements that more than doubled prior performance throughput," said Dave
King, executive vice president, product development and management, JDA
Software. According to King, these improvements include:
-
History aggregation processing at a rate of 1.3 billion DFUs per hour
-
Generate weekly statistical forecast processing at a rate of 85
million DFUs per hour
-
Reconcile forecast processing at a rate of 155 million DFUs per hour
