Dusty Showers to Cruise with Cancer Survivors
Showers' unusual methods of raising awareness, including sporting a fancy pink bra, have brought him nation-wide recognition as an advocate for breast cancer research and awareness.
He formed The 2nd Baseman, a movement for both women and men in the fight against breast cancer, in 2009.
Showers was asked to attend the cruise by the event organizers, and has agreed to be "Capt'n Dusty" while on board.
In addition to raising money for this great cause, Showers - an inspirational speaker and writer - will speak on the cruise. He will provide a positive message that Cancer can be defeated, and through positive thinking, and proper treatment we can wipe this horrific killer out of our lives.
Although the cruise raises money for the Susan G. Komen For The Cure Foundation, it is intended to be more than just a fundraiser. According to event organizer Karen Lewandowski, "This cruise is to give anyone who has been touched by any cancer and those that are living and thriving with cancer to have an opportunity to have a weekend away from doctors, nurses, medical appointments, et al and live in a moment of relaxation for the weekend. A time to rejuvenate their spirits."
