APconnections Announces General Release of NetEqualizer YouTube Caching

LAFAYETTE, Colo. - (BUSINESS WIRE) - APconnections, a leading supplier of plug-and-play bandwidth shaping products, recently announced the general release of NetEqualizer YouTube video caching. The NetEqualizer Caching Option (NCO), which headlines the NetEqualizer 5.0 software update, is now available on all NE3000 models and higher.

The NCO release comes after several months of successful beta testing on both live networks as well as APconnections' custom load generator.

"Our load generator allowed us to simulate and remedy real-world issues at will, which has made the general release that much smoother," APconnections co-founder and CTO Art Reisman said. "Early implementation of the caching feature has been close to flawless."

The NetEqualizer Caching Option ensures fast and efficient access to the most popular YouTube videos while reducing overall network strain. When NCO is activated, a squid proxy server is loaded along with proprietary NetEqualizer configuration and integration software. NCO then caches frequently used static content, which are primarily YouTube videos.

By saving a copy of the top trending videos on a local server, NCO prevents the need to waste valuable bandwidth accessing the videos on the separate YouTube server each time they're viewed. Instead, the bandwidth pipes remain open and customers are assured videos will play quickly and smoothly. This leads to better quality of service for users, as well as long-term savings in bandwidth costs for administrators and Internet providers. (For more on the advantages of YouTube caching, see the NetEqualizer YouTube Caching FAQ.)

NetEqualizer 5.0 is available at no charge to customers with current NetEqualizer Software Subscriptions (NSS). However, a one-time set up fee is required for NCO. For more information, contact APconnections Sales at 1-800-918-2763 or sales@apconnections.net.

The NetEqualizer is a plug-and-play bandwidth control and WAN/Internet optimization appliance that is flexible and scalable. When the network is congested, NetEqualizer's unique "behavior-shaping" technology dynamically and automatically gives priority to latency sensitive applications such as VoIP and e-mail, thus improving on other available bandwidth shaping technologies. The NetEqualizer controls network flow for the best WAN optimization.

APconnections is a privately held company founded in 2003 and is based in Lafayette, Colorado (http://www.netequalizer.com).
