Launch of ConnectedWorld.TV Awards, in association with IBC Connected World
(London, 19 April 2011) BPL Broadcast Ltd announced today that it has launched the ConnectedWorld.TV Awards. The ConnectedWorld.TV Awards are the first global awards to focus on creativity and innovation at the intersection of TV and the Internet. In association with IBC Connected World, the ConnectedWorld.TV Awards have been designed to celebrate the creativity of broadcasters, independent producers, technology companies and consumer electronics manufacturers involved in the creation, management and delivery of broadcast content via connected devices. ConnectedWorld.TV Award winners will be presented with their awards at a gala dinner at the Hotel Okura, Amsterdam on Monday 12 September, during IBC2011.
The ConnectedWorld.TV Awards recognise excellence in “the business of content everywhere”. Award categories include:
-
New content offerings being delivered by broadband
-
Innovative use of applications, the web and social media to aid discovery, build new audiences or enhance the programme experience by allowing viewers to interact with the production
-
New devices that present the public with new engaging or immersive viewing options
The ConnectedWorld.TV Premier Awards will acknowledge the technological breakthrough, broadcaster, event and personality judged to have made the biggest contributions to expanding the business of content everywhere.
“The use of the Internet as a delivery mechanism is creating a Connected World in which new and traditional forms of broadcast content can be consumed anytime, anywhere and on any device,” said Chris Boeree, Chairman of BPL Broadcast Ltd. “The ConnectedWorld.TV Awards are the first international awards to recognise the innovation that is driving this revolution and the creativity of the content producers exploiting this exciting new medium.”
“We very much welcome the introduction of the ConnectedWorld.TV Awards and are pleased to have the Connected World at IBC associated with them,” said Michael Crimp, CEO, IBC. “IBC has always believed in the value of recognising excellence in innovation and nowhere is this more important than at the margins of technology where the worlds of broadcasting, IT and Telecoms converge.”
