XBRL US Announces National Conference 2011: Get More Out of XBRL, Strategies for Public Companies, Nashville, TN, September 26-27, 2011

2011 is an important year for XBRL because this year 1) the Securities and Exchange Commission's (SEC) limited liability provision for XBRL exhibits will be eliminated for the largest public companies that were in the first phase of the SEC rollout; and 2) by year-end, all public companies will be required to submit their financial statements to the SEC in XBRL format.

"Large public companies have complied with the SEC reporting requirements," said Frank Brod, Corporate Vice President & Chief Accounting Officer for Microsoft Corporation, "However, the real opportunity for XBRL is in how companies will use XBRL for their internal reporting processes to standardize and enable efficiencies."
