Youth Executed in Kashmir Two Days After Religious Leader Assassinated

Srinagar, April 10: Two days after a prominent Muslim religious leader was assassinated in Indian administered Kashmir, unknown attackers Sunday evening shot and killed a 22-year old youth in North Kashmir.
A police official said an unidentified gunmen barged into the residence of Sajjad Ahmad Dar son at Kralteng, Sopore, some 54 kms north of Srinagar, the summer capital of Indian administered Kashmir. "The gunmen took the youth away. They fired at him from point blank range in Rahim Sahib area, some meters away from his residence and fled away leaving him in pool of blood. Dar had sustained critical bullet injuries and died on the spot," he said.
Immediately after the shoot-out, police and paramilitary soldiers laid siege around the area to flush out the attackers. No arrests were reported.
No militant outfit has claimed responsibility for the killing.
North Kashmir has witnessed a surge in militancy related incidents in the recent past.
