Fujitsu Showcasing PalmEntry Physical Access Control Solution and Vantage Data Center Deployment at ISC West 2011

WHAT:

A robust, palm vein-based biometric authentication solution, the Fujitsu PalmEntry access control system utilizes industry-leading PalmSecure vascular pattern technology to deliver secure physical and logical access control to customers across vertical industries, including healthcare, financial services, government, retail and education. The PalmSecure sensor uses near-infrared light to capture a person's palm vein pattern, generating a unique biometric template that is matched against templates of pre-registered users. Unlike other biometric modalities, PalmSecure authentication is contactless, meaning it is unaffected by the presence of hand lotions, chemicals, abrasions, skin conditions or the effects of cold environments. Further, the technology can only recognize palm vein patterns if blood is actively flowing, making forgery virtually impossible. The result is a highly reliable, non-intrusive and easy-to-use biometric authentication solution that can be easily integrated to existing access control infrastructures, making it the physical access control solution of choice for even the most demanding organizations.

Earlier this year, Vantage Data Centers, which provides energy-efficient, scalable data center solutions to enterprise customers, deployed the PalmEntry solution in the first completed data center on its state-of-the-art, 18-acre campus in Santa Clara, Calif. to protect extremely sensitive proprietary data and costly infrastructure, as well as ensure that only privileged personnel are able to access secure areas. With the PalmEntry system-which offers up to three factors of authentication-Vantage is able to require biometric authentication for all ingress points and layer additional factors of authentication as needed, specifically in mission-critical areas. In addition, Brian Yoshii from Vantage Data Centers will be available in the Fujitsu booth to talk about the company's deployment of the PalmEntry technology at its Santa Clara campus and the results experienced to date.
