Killer Drones Tied to Beale AFB; Protest Today
Beale AFB coordinates deadly drone strikes, slaughtering innocent children, elderly; Military personnel encouraged to refuse to fight Tuesday
BEALE AFB - Military veterans and peace advocates will line the main entrance and front gate here today to call for military personnel to refuse to participate in the use of "killer drones" - in part coordinated by Beale AFB - that slaughter civilians.
The protests begin today at the Beale AFB (North Beale Road/main gate), 6:30 a.m. -9 a.m. and continue from 3 p.m.-5 p.m.
Beale AFB controls the surveillance drone "Global Hawk," which locates "enemy targets" and coordinates deadly strikes with the "Reaper" and "Predator" killer drones, said CodePINK.
Children, women and the elderly - and other innocent victims - are increasingly being slaughtered who are "accidentally" target by these drones, added CodePINK.
The protests encourage service members to refuse to fight and "resist" war by not using the killer drones.
"We hope, at regular demonstrations at military bases across the country, to educate military personnel about the truths of U.S. wars and encourage them to resist drones and endless wars by refusing to fight. Drone warfare has serious moral, legal and ethical ramifications.
"We want all U.S. military personnel participating in drone programs to think seriously about these issues. Drone warfare will not make us safer. In fact, it's an assault on humanity, destabilizing the world, and we want the military to be aware of that and refuse to fight," says Toby Blome, Bay Area CodePINK organizer.
"Just as the Egyptian army ultimately supported the will of the masses, and just as Libyan pilots flee their country and refuse to follow orders to attack protesters, we are hoping that the U.S. military personal will follow the will of the majority in this country: 74 percent of the American public now want a withdrawal from Afghanistan. Americans want peace now," said Blome.
