Coca-Cola Recycling Program Helps Educate CHEP Employees
ORLANDO, Fla. - (BUSINESS WIRE) - CHEP, an industry leader in pallet and container pooling solutions,
announced Coca-Cola Recycling LLC, a division of Coca-Cola Refreshments,
was on-site March 21, 2011 at CHEP corporate headquarters to reinforce
the value of recycling with employees. Using their Recycling Education
Vehicle, Coca-Cola Recycling helped to educate CHEP associates on the
importance of recovering used bottles and cans in a fun and interactive
way that includes videos, games, contests and prizes.
"At Coca-Cola, we envision a world where our used beverage containers
are not regarded as waste, but as a valuable resource," said John
Burgess, president of Coca-Cola Recycling LLC. "We are pleased to work
with CHEP, a company that holds that same vision for their products, and
we're excited to have an opportunity to talk to their employees about
the good things that happen when they recycle."
CHEP works to ensure material recovery, reuse and recycling efforts are
optimized by maintaining ownership of its assets. In addition to
establishing clear accountability and control once a pallet reaches its
end of life. CHEP also promotes employee recycling, both at home and in
the work place. Recently, thanks to the dedicated recycling efforts of
the information systems team, CHEP recycled two full trailer loads of
electronics out of the CHEP USA offices and Data Center.
Candice Herndon, Director, Environmental and Regulatory Affairs, CHEP
Americas, said; "Part of the CHEP sustainability commitment is to
partner with our employees, suppliers, customers, service providers and
other key environmental stakeholders to jointly achieve the highest
possible environmental standards. This event allowed one of our key
customers to help our employees learn more about the importance of
material recycling within a sustainable supply chain."
