Terso Solutions Launches New RFID-Enabled Refrigerator for Hospital and Laboratory Inventory Management

MADISON, Wis., March 22, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- Terso Solutions, Inc. has expanded its line of RFID-enabled enclosures with the addition of a new refrigerator that is well-suited for hospital and laboratory inventory management. Leveraging the power of RFID, the new refrigerator makes better use of space, reduces energy consumption, lowers maintenance costs, and protects high value products such as reagents, cardiovascular products, tissue samples, and orthopedic supplies.

"Terso's RFID-enabled refrigerators are helping hospitals, research labs, and manufacturers and distributors better manage high-value inventory by monitoring products any time of the day or night," said Joe Pleshek, Chief Executive Officer at Terso Solutions. "By coupling Terso's hosted RFID inventory management solution with a highly configurable, field tested refrigerator, hospitals can control materials management costs, improve regulatory compliance, and manage product expiration dates."

The new refrigerator has a temperature range of 36 to 46 degrees Fahrenheit and has 5.5 cubic feet of storage space. RFID technology enables the refrigerator to capture inventory transactions at the item level by user, leading to greater accountability. In addition, the refrigerator monitors temperature and expiration dates, and can also trigger alarms when doors are left open. And it's all monitored 24/7 by Terso's technical support staff.

"Manufacturers and distributors are using our RFID-enabled refrigerator to improve regulatory compliance and drive significant revenue growth," said Jason Rosemurgy, global sales director for Terso Solutions. "Research labs have been able to eliminate paperwork and reduce stock-outs and expired products. And with no hardware to purchase and no software to install, customers can quickly pilot a solution and easily update incrementally as they grow."

As of 2010, Terso has nearly 900 RFID-enabled cabinets, freezers and refrigerators around the world. Terso's experienced implementation team can get you up and running fast, with a solution that can help solve an immediate, critical need without having to re-architect your entire system.

All of Terso's products are certified by the Federal Communications Commission for EMC emissions and have received CE, C-Tick and UL certifications.
