Profile America -- Saturday, March 12th, noting Women's History Month. Watching television, it's easy to see that women are prominent as reporters, actors, and talk show hosts. For its first few decades, television was definitely a man's world. Among the pioneer women was Dinah Shore, who was one of the first to have her own prime-time variety show, which ultimately won 10 Emmy awards. Another pioneer was Mary Tyler Moore, who in the 1970s introduced the first of a new wave of popular sitcoms. Now, women make up 43 percent of news analysts, reporters and correspondents, 56 percent of editors, and 40 percent of producers and directors.
