PORTLAND, Ore., March 10, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- Respondesign, original developer of Yourself Fitness(TM), My Fitness Coach(TM) and Your Shape(TM) is releasing the consumer version of its MayaFit(TM) software - the first shipment to feature the PrimeSense Open Natural Interaction(TM) (OpenNI(TM)) solution.

This version for TVs and PCs adds to the existing MayaFit(TM) Training Station deployments in U.S.-based gyms and fitness centers that have been in production since late 2010. MayaFit(TM) software leverages the OpenNI(TM) framework to support motion-based fitness training for individual and group workouts.

"OpenNI(TM) provides a structure for us to incorporate gesture recognition into our line of digital fitness products. Fitness is a natural category and PrimeSense is providing a great enabling technology that allows us to build next-generation fitness experiences for our broad range of consumer and corporate clients. Motion tracking provides our trainer intelligence with real-time user feedback and makes the interaction easier, more fun and more effective," says Ted Spooner, CEO of Respondesign.

Since 2005 with the introduction of Maya, the world's first digital fitness trainer, Respondesign has delivered the innovations responsible for transforming the lives of consumers world-wide through various home entertainment platforms.

With the innovative leadership and partnership from PrimeSense, Respondesign has leveraged fitness training, creating an interactive experience in any living room. As a result, fitness training with motion tracking can now be enjoyed on TVs and PCs using breakthrough in-living room equipment such as the WAVI (TM) from ASUS.

"OpenNI(TM) was created to connect the entire ecosystem of the human sensory experience and one of the best applications of this is digital fitness training," says Uzi Breier, Executive VP Sales and CMO, PrimeSense. "The capabilities with OpenNI(TM) are changing the way we interact with the world, and now also the way we stay fit. With these innovative programs from Respondesign and next generation user interface devices from ASUS, we are driving the future of fitness as well as Natural Interaction."

The ASUS WAVI Xtion(TM) solution combines full HD wireless media transmission with the world's first PC motion-sensing interface to transform existing PC's and televisions into in-home gesture-controlled entertainment areas. The on-line ASUS Xtion(TM) Portal with MayaFit(TM) in-home fitness allows users to now enjoy the convenience of fitness training in their own living rooms.

An advance preview of this gesture-based MayaFit(TM) fitness program will be shown at the ASUS booth at CeBit. For business meetings, please contact Respondesign at info@respondesign.com For media appointments, please contact Jeff Foster at Respondesign; jfoster@respondesign.com
