Eighty-Five Percent of Mosques are Run By Radicals- Representative King
By Marcella Glenn
A Muslim advocacy group plans to hold a news conference Wednesday to challenge Representative Peter King to share facts and back up his claims that 85 percent of mosques in New York and nationwide are run by radicals.
The Republican chairman, King, of the House Homeland Security Committee, will assemble a hearing Thursday that will focus on "radicalization in the American Muslim community."
The Council on American Islamic Relations aims to challenge misinformation from the hearing.
"There are elements in that community that are being radicalized, and I believe that the leadership, the leaders of that community, do not face up to that reality," King.
"I tell people wait and watch and listen to the hearing and they will see it will be a thoughtful, meaningful very fair hearing," King continued.
Tuesday, a national group, Muslim Advocate, launched a web site directed at tracking what it sees as anti-Muslim rhetoric, especially among elected officials.
