Rajan Zed Urges All Religions to Back "International Women's Day"
Religions and religious leaders of the world should do more to help women, religious statesman Rajan Zed stated in Nevada (USA) today in his "International Women's Day" centennial message.
Zed is the President of Universal Society of Hinduism. He pointed out that religion is a powerful force and enjoyed considerable influence in our societies. Religions and religious leaders should wholeheartedly and urgently come out in support of women's cause.
Rajan Zed further said that as a religious leader, it is our moral obligation to work for women's upliftment and empowerment as religions told us that all are equal in the eyes of God. We, as religious leaders, should show strong will, courage, and commitment in support of women's cause. We could not afford to stay apathetic to societal truths.
Zed argued that progress has been made in the area of women's rights. But it still need to be done as many women still faced apartheid conditions. It is a sin to watch women suffer discrimination day after day.
Rajan Zed stressed that it is sad to see that despite frequent universal governmental promises and international commitments and forums, the gender apartheid still exist in the 21st century. We need to urgently wake up. Change should start from us.
Zed would undertake special prayers on today urging God to direct all religions to the right path on this issue.
International Women's Day falls on March 8 this year. It was first held on March 19, 1911 in Austria, Denmark, Germany and Switzerland.
