Hindus Congratulate Mike Myers on His Confirmed Marriage to Kelly Tisdale
Hindus, who vehemently protested against his 2008 release "The Love Guru," congratulated actor-comedian Mike Myers on his recently confirmed marriage. They hoped that he would not again defame Hinduism in his future movies.
Myers' marriage with longtime girlfriend Kelly Tisdale was announced recently. This is Myers' second marriage who split from his wife of 12 years, producer-actress Robin Ruzan.
Hindu statesman Rajan Zed who led the protests against "The Love Guru" for defaming Hinduism, in a statement in Nevada today, said that ksama (forgiveness) is one of the main virtues of Hindu ethics. In Hinduism, vivah (marriage) is the most important samskar (sacrament). Zed is the President of Universal Society of Hinduism. He wished for the new couple a wonderful journey that is full of joy and love as they start a new life together.
If Myers will only visit a Hindu temple and will express remorse, the Hindus would not only absolve him but might also pray for his success in his future ventures if asked, Zed added.
Rajan Zed further said that although Myers' temple visit would not undo the damage done to the community, but it might help heal the wounds. Zed also suggested Myers to seek some spiritual wisdom.
Michael John Myers is a British-Canadian actor. He was the lead actor, co-writer and co-producer of "The Love Guru." Besides Hindus, even United States Conference of Catholic Bishops declared "The Love Guru" as "morally offensive."
