Somali NOC Honors The Country's Sports Day
The Somali National Olympic committee (Somali NOC) today announced a week-long celebrations intended to mark the country's sports day, president Aden Hajji Yeyeborw told a press conference in Mogadishu.
The Somali NOC and its sporting federation are holding celebrations and competitions to honor this great day.
It was in 1981 when the 7th day of March was recognized as Somalia's sports day. Since that time, Somali NOC and its member federations were annually marking the day with sporting events and other celebrations.
"I am very happy that our day arrives with the country's sport stepping into a higher development after recovering from years of setbacks. We are on the way forward," the Somali NOC president Aden Hajji Yeberow told a press conference early today.

"One of the most historic moves was the holding of the regional football for peace tournament and development in Garowe late last year. The ongoing division soccer championship was also commendable," the Somali NOC president said in the press conference in Mogadishu.
