FPCA Supports Attorney General Bondi's Statement on Restoration of Civil Rights
The Florida Police Chiefs Association (FPCA) supports Attorney General Pam Bondi's statement regarding Restoration of Civil Rights.
The FPCA also opposes the concept of the automatic restoration of civil rights. We believe this is not a right that should be automatic, however should be earned. There should be an application process and a mandatory waiting period that would allow sufficient time to assess that the individual applying is in fact living as a law abiding citizen in his or her community.
FPCA President, Chief Peter Paulding, is quoted as saying: "The FPCA commends Attorney General Bondi in her efforts to address this issue. We further support her intent to create a fair process to restore deserving felon's rights however placing the burden of restoring where it should be on the felon, not government."
