BodyLogicMD Patient Tamara Savage Named Athlete of the Month

Boca Raton, FL, March 01, 2011 --(PR.com)-- Who hasn't watched the Olympics and wished they could be like those athletes? It's something that Tamara Savage, 57, of Boca Raton, FL, never expected to accomplish. But thanks to a steadfast determination to achieve her goals - and the BodyLogicMD program - she has been named the Athlete of the Month for January 2011 by the National Senior Games Association (NSGA).

Savage's results in the Florida State Senior Games last month were what brought the attention of the NSGA. She won four gold medals in cycling in the women's 55-59 age group, winning the 5k and 10k time trials and the 20k and 40k road races. She even set a record for her age group, beating the previous time for the 5k time trial by 9 seconds. She completed the trial in 8 minutes, 27.485 seconds.

Savage hasn't always been an athlete. She started smoking at age 16 and topped off her 5'2” frame at her heaviest weight - 235 pounds. But in 2002, at the age of 48, Savage decided to get fit by 50. She stopped smoking, dropped 100 pounds and started participating in marathons. By the time Tamara turned 50, she had accomplished her goal and celebrated by running a 100-mile ultra-marathon in the Phoenix desert.

She attributes her success to the support she has received from her coaches, friends, mentors, and BodyLogicMD. “BodyLogicMD has been there since almost the beginning,” Savage shares. “I'm probably one of the first 10 or 15 patients that came on board. In addition to quitting smoking and trying to lose the weight, I wanted to give my body the best chance it could possibly have at being healthy.”

“I've been on a program that consists of all natural bioidentical hormones and a quality supplement regime since 2003,” says Savage. “Becoming a patient of BodyLogicMD was one of those monumental steps in changing my life.” And she's still a patient today. Now that she lives in Boca Raton, Tamara is a patient of Dr. Jeffrey Thackrey of BodyLogicMD of Fort Lauderdale. “He's a smart physician,” Savage says, “and a wonderful person as well.”

Dr. Thackrey applauds Tamara's accomplishments. “Tamara's story is inspirational,” he says. “She's an outstanding example of how far someone can come in achieving their health and wellness goals.”

Savage's journey isn't over yet. BodyLogicMD is sponsoring her participation in the National Senior Games in Houston, Texas in June, 2011. “I'm thrilled,” she says. “I'm going to go to the procession and stay in the village and do everything that I've seen them do in the Olympics and only dreamed of.” And Dr. Thackrey is excited about the sponsorship, as well. “Tamara is a perfect candidate for BodyLogicMD to sponsor,” he says.

She hopes that she can inspire others to achieve their own goals in the same way that so many others have inspired her. “That's what it's about,” says Savage. “It's about enjoying what you're doing, enjoying the people you're doing it with, and if you can help somebody take one step in the right direction, then that's great, too. And you know, that's the theme of BodyLogicMD. They help women and men make a better life — better living — through bioidentical hormones, nutrition and fitness.”
