Rapper Podcasts Album for Free Before Its Release

Stockholm, NJ, February 16, 2011 --(PR.com)-- Devo Spice's new album Gnome Sane is scheduled to be released on April 1st, 2011, but fans of the rapper and comedian won't have to wait that long to hear it. Beginning February 16th Devo Spice will be podcasting the album one song at a time on his podcast The Insider. A new episode will be posted every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday until the final episode is posted on April 1st to coincide with the album's release.

Each episode will feature one song in its entirety, along with commentary on the song by Devo Spice. Devo will discuss the song's origin, give some trivia about the song, or discuss something funny that happened during the song's development. Members of Devo Spice's premium fan club The Spice Rack will also get a second song each week taken from the album's accompanying bonus CD.

"I'm basically stealing marketing ideas from my author friends," says Tom "Devo Spice" Rockwell. "I have friends who podcasted a book and then got it published after the podcast was complete. I figure why not do the same thing with my album?"

The podcast is meant to not only expose more listeners to his unique brand of comedy but also to reinforce the main marketing push for this release, which is to have as many people as possible buy the album on iTunes on April 1st.

"I've seen authors do Amazon rushes, where they ask their fans to buy the book the day it comes out on Amazon.com. The result is it pushes the book up the charts, and gets the book more visibility, and ultimately more sales," says Rockwell. "I want to see if the same thing can be done with iTunes."

To encourage people to do this Devo Spice is offering the physical copy of Gnome Sane to anyone who purchases the digital copy on iTunes on April 1st, as well as both a digital and physical copy of the accompanying bonus CD Nah Meen.

Devo Spice is a comedy rapper who bills himself as "the red-headed stepson of Weird Al Yankovic and Eminem." He made a name for himself on the nationally syndicated Dr. Demento Show producing several number 1 hits. In 2007 he helped launch The Funny Music Project, or The FuMP, where he continues to post new songs periodically and make them available as a free download.
