Military Families Struggle With Separation on Valentine's Day

Troops deployed to Afghanistan and Iraq have a lot to think about. Every day is a constant struggle to complete their mission, defeat the enemy, and above all stay safe so that someday they can return home to their families.
When you're deployed in a foreign country 3,000 miles away from your friends and family, every holiday can be tough to get through. But when you're recently married, or recently had your first child with your husband or wife, Valentine's Day can be especially rough.
Natasha Rudolph of Pensacola, FL, whose husband Fredrick Rudolph is serving in with the Navy in Japan, said she plans to spend the day with their three children.
"The kids keep me going," she said. "I have to explain to them that 'Daddy is away, and he will return, and he is doing this for us.'" - KGMB News, Hawaii, Feb. 11th. 2011
Our troops bravely serving overseas miss their husbands, wives, girlfriends and boyfriends for Valentine's Day, but we can help make a difference* by sending a little bit of love with a care package full of support and goodies to enjoy. Make a donation now to help give our troops a little morale boost this February 14th!
Like Fred, the rest of our troops are serving overseas for us, especially those who are deployed on the front lines in the War on Terror, in Afghanistan and Iraq. They're doing it for our sake, for our security, our prosperity, to protect our constitution and our way of life.
This week conservatives from around the country descended on Washington to attend the annual CPAC convention. At CPAC, former Defense Secretary Donald Rumsfeld accepted the "Defender of the Constitution" award, and in his acceptance speech, reminded us of why we should be so grateful for our troops. "I would like to share this award with the men and women of the United States armed forces. Every single one is a volunteer!"
What kind of person does it take to raise your hand, during a time of war, and say "send me." It's something most people don't have the guts to do, and yet every individual of the millions who serve in our Armed Forces has taken that pledge and made the sacrifice. To honor them for their bravery and selflessness, the least we can do is send a little gift with a message expressing our gratitude.
Just a few days ago, the Berkeley City Council announced that they will be considering a new resolution at the next council hearing, coming up Tuesday February 15th.
The City Peace and Justice Commisssion wants to invite GUANTANAMO BAY detainees to come live and work in Berkeley, despite the enormous security risks and cost. The City would be responsible for providing housing, job training, work, and safety for the former terrorists.
You may say "it's no surprise" or that Berkeley is "at it again" but Move America Forward exists so that we NEVER have to allow the left to soak up the mass media spotlight without providing a RESPONSE from a patriotic, pro-troop point of view that defends the good name of the United States and the troops that protect it!
With that in mind, Move America Forward representatives went on local TV news to express our disgust with the city's latest move. MAF Blogger Danny appeared on the local CBS news station to give our reaction and told the Berkeley City Council that if they want to pal around with terrorists, they ought to do it in GITMO, not bring the terrorists here!
We have to show that most Americans don't agree with what Berkeley says or does! Next week we will also attend their city council hearing to bring that same pro-troop message.
