The San Jose branch, which will eventually be known as the San Jose Regional Center, is City National's 11th branch in Northern California and was acquired last year from First Bank, headquartered in St. Louis, Mo. The new branch opens on Feb. 14 and is City National's second branch in San Jose.

Chavez will oversee the delivery of the bank's full range of financial products and services, including small business services; Small Business Administration, business and consumer loans; cash management; deposit; international banking; and foreign exchange. He will also manage the office's customer service and business development efforts, especially with community organizations.

With more than 20 years of experience in the financial services industry, Chavez most recently served as a relationship sales manager for GE Capital in San Jose. Before that, he was with Bank of America for 13 years and served as a senior vice president and card relationship sales executive in San Francisco.

"Chavez will join a growing team of City National colleagues in San Jose who will offer our unique brand of highly tailored banking and wealth management solutions to entrepreneurs, professionals, and small and mid-size businesses in San Jose and the Silicon Valley," said Robert Brant, executive vice president and Northern California regional executive.
