Unprecedented Industry Support for Singapore International Water Week

Leading business and industry organisations come together to endorse the significance of Singapore International Water Week

Tokyo, Feb 11, 2011 - (ACN Newswire) - Leading business and industry organisations in Singapore today demonstrated their support for Singapore International Water Week at a celebratory Lunar New Year lunch hosted by national water agency, PUB Chief Executive Khoo Teng Chye. Their supportaffirmed the relevance of the event to the local industry players.

"Over the last three years, Singapore International Water Week has grown in stature and significance. The event enjoys strong recognition and endorsement from both the local and global water industry. The number of Founding Sponsors has risen to 21 from 14 in 2008; our showcase trade show - Water Expo 2011 will welcome two new country pavilions from Belgium and the UK this year. The Water Convention has also attracted a record428 high-quality submissions from 50 countries," said Mr Khoo.

- The Institution of Engineers, Singapore
- Tunneling and Underground Construction Society (Singapore)
- Waste Management & Recycling Association of Singapore

Mr.Victor Tay, Acting CEO, Singapore Business Federation said, "To enhance its focus on international sustainable issues, Singapore Business Federation is pleased to support Singapore International Water Week as a platform to showcase Singapore's commercial technologies that address global water issues; tap international business opportunities; and promote the exchange of sustainable thought leadership."

Mr. Lim Jit Say, Executive Director, Association of Process Industry (ASPRI) endorsed Singapore International Water Week as an effective networking and business development platform for its members. He remarked, "ASPRI members who have participated in Singapore International Water Week were impressed with the huge turnout. It provided a good networking platform for them. Some members also managed to clinch sales leads from the show. Thus, the Association of Process Industry is pleased to be one of its supporting organisations."

Support from international players for the annual event is also growing. Among them are four organisations - PWN Technologies, MWH Consultants, Mitsubishi Rayon and Mitsubishi Electric - which have joined as new Founding Sponsors. Fourteen of the global water industry's key leaders have also come forward with their support. These include the Water Environment Federation, which for the first time, is setting up a pavilion featuring leading US and international water companies. India's premier business association, the Confederation of India Industries, will be holding the India Business Forum, deliberating the burgeoning opportunities in India's water industry.
