Thank you for doing such a great story about the million dollars gates in Sacramento, CA. at the CDCR.
Their spending is completely out of control and there is no oversight. The State is in total bankruptcy. However, they house prisoners who are on their death bed who have no reason to be in prison. They should be in a nursing home or at home with their families to care for them.
The CDCR have thousands of employees on the payroll who can walk into the room twice a day and give these prisoners medication such as Neurotin and Abilitfy. Otherwise the prisoner lays in bed, can't walk, and suffers in pain to a slow death of torture. In the State of California. they have cut the pain medication back to 5 to 10 mg. of pain medication per day.
My son has spent 20 years in prison for a motorcycle wreck. The diabetes is completely out of control. Last week his blood sugar went over 1200. The abilify and Neurotin causes the blood to elevate. He is in a prison hospital, wheelchair bound, can't walk, and in so much pain and nausea he can't even eat solid food. I have volunteered to bring him home and take care of him. The parole board denied that request. It said let's wait another three years to see if he makes any improvement. He also has chronic Hepatitis C from a blood transfusion given at the time of the motorcycle wreck back in 1990.
The reason they won't release these very sick prisoners is because the CDCR gets a lot more money in their general budget for the sicker prisoners. I know of two such cases in California at Corcoran State prison. The State could save millions of dollars per year by releasing these prisoners to their family members, yet they refuse to do so.
