New Bedford Standard Times Newspaper Profiles Vector Marketing Sales Representative for Sponsoring Teachers to Attend Harvard Dyslexia Conference

NEW BEDFORD, MA - (Marketwire - January 25, 2011) - The New Bedford Standard Times recently profiled South Dartmouth, Massachusetts resident and Vector Marketing sales representative Will Baker III for his sponsorship of 50 New England-area educators to attend The Dyslexia Foundation's conference at Harvard Medical School in October 2010. The article was titled, "On the Cutting Edge of Dylexia."

According to the article, Baker raised the $2,500 to sponsor the teachers from his summer work as a sales representative for Vector Marketing Corporation, the sales division of Cutco Cutlery Corporation. The article states how, to raise the money, Baker sold $45,000 worth of Cutco during his summer vacation from DePaul University in Chicago.

In his interview with the Standard Times, Baker says, "I got the job (with Vector Marketing) and saw instant success. The first 10 days of sales, I broke the record of sales for New England. I was selling knives in the New Bedford area, South Dartmouth, Boston -- I took Massachusetts by storm. It was remarkable the amount of success that I saw."

The article goes on to say that, "Baker is, evidently, an unbelievably good knife salesman -- he finished the summer ranked as Cutco's 25th best salesman in the U.S. He also won a college scholarship worth $275, which paid for his textbooks."

Baker's father was also interviewed for the article. "Now, after 20 years, we have enough evidence to empower parents with knowledge, empower teachers -- that's why we do the Harvard Conference," the elder Baker told the Standard Times.

The 61-year-old Cutco Cutlery sells its products through a national network of college students who sell through in-home personal demonstrations. These students learn a wide range of entrepreneurial skills that can benefit them with Vector Marketing and other careers. These skills include time management, presentation making, working for commissions, and customer service.
