Health Facilities Association of Maryland Administrator of the Year Award Goes to PhD Graduate from Capella University, an Accredited Online University

Leister, who earned a PhD in Organization and Management at the online university, credits the academic research and theory throughout the online degree program as leading her to become a more successful long-term healthcare administrator. Her groundbreaking dissertation, "The Vanishing Nursing Home Administrator: Stress and Intent to Leave," explores how the stresses faced by administrators at skilled nursing and rehabilitation centers can lead to an active intent to leave their healthcare facilities.

"This award recognizes my academic accomplishments and leadership ability in the long-term care industry," commented Leister. "My PhD is a distinguishing credential in the long-term care industry nationwide. It sets the holder apart as a true scholar-practitioner. I am honored to have received this award and am especially happy to be able to share this event with my family, staff and residents."

With 150 member organizations employing nearly 20,000 people in Maryland, the Health Facilities Association of Maryland is the largest long-term care association representing skilled nursing, sub-acute facilities, and assisted living programs in Maryland.
