R.I.S.E. (Redefining Investment Strategy Education) offers a line-up of international finance and investment leaders in an interactive format for the largest student investment conference in the world, open to professionals as well as students.

The conference is offered in association with the United Nations Global Compact and features market outlooks, forecasts and expert commentary on the finance industry.

"Bill Walton embodies so much of what we hope to inspire in the students and professionals who attend the conference," said Matthew Shank, dean of the School of Business Administration. "He has a zest for life, a passion for excellence and a commitment to giving back to society."

The top overall pick in the 1974 NBA draft, he went on to win two NBA championships, one with the Portland Trail Blazers in 1977 and another with the Boston Celtics in 1986. He also played for the San Diego and Los Angeles Clippers before retiring in 1990 to launch a broadcasting career.

As a broadcaster, Walton worked with CBS Sports, NBC, ABC, ESPN, Fox, MSNBC, Turner Sports, KCAL and the NBA. He won a 2001 Emmy for best live sports television broadcast and was also an Emmy recipient in 1979 for work on an environmental documentary.
