DeVry Inc. Announces Dr. Fran Roberts Named Healthcare Group Vice President for Strategic Alliances

Dr. Roberts will report to William Hughson, president of the healthcare group. The healthcare group includes Chamberlain College of Nursing, Ross University Schools of Medicine and Veterinary Medicine, Carrington College and Carrington College California.

"Dr. Roberts' notable past experience in research and clinical practice are a significant addition to the healthcare group," said Hughson. "We will greatly benefit from her experience as we continue to provide students with increased access to high-quality healthcare education."

Dr. Roberts joins DeVry from Grand Canyon University, where she was vice president of strategic business alliances for the College of Nursing and Health Sciences, a department she expanded during her tenure as dean of the College of Nursing at Grand Canyon. She previously served as the vice president for professional services at the Arizona Hospital and Healthcare Association and the director of the Healthcare Institute. From 1987 to 1995 she was the executive director of the Arizona State Board of Nursing. Dr. Roberts has received numerous recognitions and awards, is a Robert Wood Johnson Executive Nurse Fellow, and was recently inducted as a fellow into the American Academy of Nursing.

Dr. Roberts has a Ph.D. in nursing from the University of Colorado Health Sciences Center, a Master of Science degree in community mental health/psychiatric nursing from Arizona State University, and Bachelor of Science degrees in nursing and psychology from Elmhurst College in Illinois. Dr. Roberts' clinical practice areas include rehabilitation, rheumatology, community mental health/psychiatry, and long term care/gerontology. Her areas of research include public policy, geropsychiatric nursing, and the healthcare workforce.
