"The College of Health Sciences is proud to serve as a sponsor of the American Heart Association's Go Red for Women movement," said Dr. Cynthia Baum, vice president, College of Health Sciences. "Every day the American Heart Association works to fund research and develop educational programs that help to fight heart disease and save more lives. This aligns with our college's mission to positively impact the health of our communities."

In addition to a contribution on behalf of Walden, the College of Health Sciences is providing ideas and resources for members of the Walden community to live a heart-healthy lifestyle at www.WaldenU.edu/hearthealth. Tips, activities and ways to help will be posted throughout the month, including a video from Jody Early, Ph.D., M.S., CHES, Health Sciences program director, that explains how both genetics and lifestyle choices play important roles in fighting heart disease. People are also encouraged to share their stories at www.facebook.com/WaldenU.

"Women make up more than 75 percent of our global Walden community, and we hope our efforts can help save their lives and those of their mothers, sisters and friends," added Dr. Baum.

The College of Health Sciences prepares health professionals to work in essential areas such as nursing, public health and healthcare administration to address the health needs of individuals and communities.
