Make Room Washington Insiders, There are New Faces on Capitol Hill

WASHINGTON, Feb. 7, 2011 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- The big political story of 2010 was the election of scores of new members of Congress, a freshman tidal wave that changed control of the House and brought new perspectives to Capitol Hill.

With that in mind, the Washington Press Club Foundation has chosen four fresh faces to address the 67th Annual Congressional Dinner on Feb. 9 for an evening of off the record fun, bipartisan style. We've asked them to share their take on the lighter side of adjusting to life on Capitol Hill with the sold-out audience of more than 750 members of the press and their Congressional guests.

They are:

    Rep. Terri Sewell, Democrat from Alabama.
    Rep. Sean Duffy, Republican from Wisconsin.
    Sen. Kelly Ayotte, Republican from New Hampshire.
    Sen. Chris Coons, Democrat from Delaware

Special guests include Senator John Cornyn, Chairman NRSC, Congressman Kevin McCarthy, House Majority Whip, Congresswoman Nancy Pelosi, House Minority Leader and Congresswoman Debbie Wasserman Schultz.

The Annual Congressional Dinner is Washington's premier media affair, where members of Congress mix and mingle with members of the press for this invitation-only evening of banter and barbs to benefit one of D.C.'s leading journalism organizations.

In addition to the two prestigious awards presented at the dinner, the David Lynch Prize and the Washington Press Club Foundation's Lifetime Achievement Award, the evening's program gets to the heart of the workings of Capitol Hill, as interpreted--with a wink and a nod--by those who serve there.

The 2011 recipient of the WPCF's Lifetime Achievement Award is Bonnie Angelo. Bonnie, while at Time Magazine, was one of the first women to manage a major news bureau and, as president of the Women's National Press Club, worked tirelessly to guarantee equal access for women journalists.

The evening includes a special appearance by the newly reunited house band of the US Capitol, The Second Amendments, "No Politics, Just Rock and Roll."
