Univision Insights: 2010 Census Data for Louisiana, Mississippi, New Jersey and Virginia Shows Hispanic Growth Higher Than Projected
NEW YORK - (BUSINESS WIRE) - The Census Bureau released the first state results for the 2010 U.S.
Census for Louisiana, Mississippi, New Jersey and Virginia and Hispanic
growth was higher than projected. According to the data released:

In Louisiana, Mississippi, New Jersey and Virginia, the increase in
Hispanics was higher than the Census' latest projections.

Hispanics accounted for most of the growth in the states of Louisiana
and New Jersey where the non-Hispanic white populations shrank, and
about a third of all growth in Mississippi (34%) and Virginia (33%).

The Hispanic share of the state populations has increased to 17.7% in
New Jersey; 7.9% in Virginia; 4.2% in Louisiana, and 2.7% in
Mississippi.
