Univision Insights: 2010 Census Data for Louisiana, Mississippi, New Jersey and Virginia Shows Hispanic Growth Higher Than Projected

• In Louisiana, Mississippi, New Jersey and Virginia, the increase in Hispanics was higher than the Census' latest projections.
• Hispanics accounted for most of the growth in the states of Louisiana and New Jersey where the non-Hispanic white populations shrank, and about a third of all growth in Mississippi (34%) and Virginia (33%).
• The Hispanic share of the state populations has increased to 17.7% in New Jersey; 7.9% in Virginia; 4.2% in Louisiana, and 2.7% in Mississippi.
