DGHG Chairman and CEO serve as guest readers of key federal program
Mr. Vadim Enikeev is the chairman of DGH Group and Mr. Richard Lloyd is the company's CEO. Together they read to the children and brought the story book of Narnia to life.
Head Start programs promote school readiness by enhancing the social and cognitive development of children through the provision of educational, health, nutritional, social and other services to enrolled children and families.
"We are proud to be a part of an organization with a special focus on helping preschoolers develop the early reading and math skills they need to be successful in school," said Mr. Enikeev, DGH Group chairman. "These children need role models if they are going to effectively engage themselves in the American dream."
"We must work together to more effectively engage the parents and children in the learning process," said Mr. Lloyd. "Experts agree reading aloud is the easiest and most effective way to turn children into lifelong readers. We will continue to support the Administration's initiatives and help these kids make progress toward their educational and literacy goals."
The current Administration has emphasized its interest in making strategic investments in early childhood education. "Mr. Obama himself has repeatedly said that early childhood education is among his highest priorities," added Mr. Lloyd. The Head Start program has enrolled more than 27 million children since it began in 1965, and his pledge of $10 billion for Head Start Programs would amount to the largest new federal initiative for young children since the program began. Now, Head Start is a $7 billion federal program serving about 900,000 preschoolers, of which 11.5 percent consists of children with disabilities. "Mr. Obama reinforced this initiative once again on January 26 stating, 'It means leading the world in educating our kids, giving each of our children the best opportunity to succeed and preparing them for the jobs of tomorrow'."
