Union of Unemployed's New Facebook Ad Campaign: 'Hang in There' is Not Enough
WASHINGTON - (BUSINESS WIRE) - Ur
Union of Unemployed (UCubed) cited today's national unemployment
numbers from the Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) as further proof that
the nation can no longer afford to "hang in there" - the course of
action suggested by Vice President Joseph Biden in a Yahoo!
interview last week.
"Today's BLS unemployment figures grate on those still out of work,"
said UCubed Acting Executive Director Rick Sloan, "especially those who
have exhausted 99 weeks of unemployment benefits and the 62 percent who
never qualified for benefits.
"America's jobless are sick of numbers," said Sloan. "When you're
unemployed, the only number that counts is one: You. You need a
job. You need to get back to work."
In response to today's unemployment figures, UCubed has launched an
aggressive ad
campaign on Facebook. Users are being asked to click "Like" if they
agree it's time Congress stops talking numbers and starts talking about
real people whose lives and careers have been destroyed.
"Washington's unwillingness to address this country's jobs crisis
head-on is unconscionable," said Sloan. "Instead of creating jobs, they
taunt the jobless with recycled rhetoric and empty words of
encouragement."

campaign on Facebook.
