ESI Targets Water Conservation with Launch of GroPoint(TM) Single Valve Controller

E.S.I. Environmental Sensors Inc. ("ESI" or the "Company") (TSX VENTURE: ESV) is pleased to announce the market launch of its GroPoint™ Single Valve Controller (GP-SVC) designed to convert standard timer-based irrigation systems into "smart" irrigation systems through the use of soil moisture data to conserve water, automatically limiting irrigation to periods of low soil moisture levels when plants or turf truly need more water.

ESI has long promoted the efficient use and conservation of water and is known for its highly accurate and durable moisture sensors. By combining soil moisture data with a valve control device, the GroPoint™ GP-SVC allows for automated interruption of timed irrigation schedules, preventing irrigation controllers from watering when moisture levels in the soil are above a preset threshold. This threshold may be user-, technician- or factory-determined and can be adjusted in the field. It has been demonstrated through various research studies that watering based on soil moisture data can reduce water use by as much as 60%, saving both water and electricity costs as well as wear and tear on irrigation system components and maintenance. At the same time, this more efficient use of water results in healthier crops, improved quality and increased procurement, and healthier gardens and lawns. For growers, golf course superintendents, municipal park managers, turf managers and homeowners implementing these devices on their irrigation systems, a rapid and significant return on investment may be realized along with positive environmental impacts.

The GroPoint™ GP-SVC also allows for automated interruption of timed irrigation schedules in hot-spots where systems are already installed and localized control of single or multiple valves is required, and is much more accurate and efficient than using a rain sensor or weather data to limit irrigation. A system monitoring soil moisture derives data directly from the root zone of the plant or other targeted sensing area, thereby optimizing the watering schedule over any other known method.

The GroPoint™ GP-SVC can be used in conjunction with an existing irrigation system and controller. It can be connected directly to the controller or to a single valve affecting one zone or multiple zones. For larger operations, multiple devices can be connected to multiple zones. ESI is already selling these types of systems for large sports field complexes.

In addition, ESI would also like to thank Mr. Ian Grant for his service as a member of the Board of Directors for the Company over the past six months. Mr. Grant has stepped down from the Board in order to focus on his own expanding business affairs.

About ESI

ESI is a leading manufacturer of patented and proprietary solutions for environments where understanding the presence, movement, and/or amount of water are important. Major market sectors include: agriculture, golf and turf, scientific research, civil engineering, mining, environmental monitoring and crude oil production. ESI solutions have been successfully introduced into more than 40 countries to enable customers to optimize their operations by monitoring the presence and movement of water, managing irrigation systems, and monitoring the integrity of landfill covers. In addition, ESI's FloPoint™ instrument has been deployed in the oil industry to measure the volumetric presence of water pumped during crude oil extraction for characterization and optimization of the process. ESI differentiates itself by translating the best technology and science available into practical, easy to use solutions. Irrigation managers, reservoir engineers, and scientists have adopted ESI's products for their accuracy, ease of use, repeatability, and ability to operate in challenging environments. ESI is publicly traded on the TSX Venture Exchange under the symbol "ESV". Further information about ESI may be obtained through the Company's website at www.esica.com.
