Divers Direct Holds Successful Multi-Location Reef and Beach Cleanup

We wish to thank the 167 participants who joined us in cleaning 5 beach and ocean locations throughout the state of Florida, including a large group of divers who braved the chilly conditions to scrub the reefs at Blue Heron Bridge, Dania Beach, Biscayne Bay and Islamorada. Our beach lovers contributed to the cause by picking up garbage from Phil Foster State Park, Dania Beach and Smather's Beach in Key West. All-in-all, a total of 1,256.8 pounds of trash was gathered and disposed of properly. Congratulations to all of those who assisted in this effort!

All participants were invited back to one of our 5 Divers Direct Dive Shop locations following the cleanup to enjoy a meal and prize drawing. The top garbage collectors from each site were awarded a valuable prize for use in future dives. Among the prizes given away were several Bladefish 5000 diver propulsion devices, Aqua Lung and Mares Scuba regulators, an AB Biller speargun and several pairs of Aqua Lung HotShot travel fins.

Divers Direct is extremely pleased with the participation and outcome of this year's event, and we look forward to hosting more events to benefit the environment in the future.
