Conservative Decision Makers Tend to Have Politically Rebelious Children

By

Barbara Bush, the young daughter of President George W. Bush, has announced her support for marriage equality in the State of New York. Or, in other words, has joined the largest Club in America: The Association of Liberal Children who have Conservative Parents in Elected office.

Whether it be Meghan McCain supporting the repeal of "Don't Ask Don't Tell" when her father is fighting for the policy in front of the entire Senate, or Ron Reagan lambasting his father's tax policies on MSNBC, the children of Conservative decision makers tend to not only tilt left, but to publicly disagree with their parents on networks that slander and oppose them.

What is the reason for this blatant disrespect?

It is hard for me to comtemplate the mentality. Especially when the children of Liberal decision makers always stand with their parents: look at Chelsea Clinton and Alexandra Pelosi. Could it be that it's easier to become a Liberal than a Conservative?

Definitely. To believe everything goes is wonderful, but in the end: meaningless. Then again, former Republican Congressman Joe DioGuardi's daughter, a former American Idol judge and singer - has remained true to her principles in one of the farthest left conclaves in American society - Hollywood.

The easiest answer is that children tend to revolt against their parent's point of view on everything. But, political families tend to remain on the same team, with the ongoing exception of The Association of Liberal Children who have Conservative Parents in Elected office.

Timothy Knight is a seventeen year old columnist from Upstate, New York. He serves as Chairman of a local Young Republicans Club.
