DTS to Deliver Surround Sound to Super Bowl XLV Fans Worldwide
CALABASAS, Calif. - (BUSINESS WIRE) - DTS, Inc. (Nasdaq: DTSI), the leader in high-definition audio, announced
today that DTS Neural Surround Sound technology will be integrated into
the NFL's international HD broadcast of Super Bowl XLV from Dallas. This
partnership will enable TV viewers from around the world to experience
the game in full 5.1 surround sound for the fourth consecutive year.
DTS Neural Surround Sound provides a revolutionary new approach to
surround sound productions, enabling networks to distribute 5.1 surround
sound over a stereo transmission path. For Super Bowl XLV, television
broadcast stations worldwide will transmit the signal carrying the DTS
Neural Surround sound technology. This technology, integrated into
hardware by DaySequerra, allows broadcast crews to produce the game in
5.1 and preserve the integrity of the surround mix while transmitting
the game to a global NFL audience in a stereo format at the highest
resolution possible.
"Providing the best sounding audio for the largest one-day broadcast
event in the world is just another example of DTS' dedication to
creating the ultimate audio experience for home theaters," said Jon
Kirchner, CEO of DTS. "For fans that are unable to travel to Dallas to
watch the Steelers and Packers, DTS wants to make the at-home Super Bowl
listening experience as immersive and authentic as possible."
Over thirty five international broadcasters will televise Super Bowl XLV
in more than 180 countries and territories. The game will be broadcast
live in more than 30 languages, including 10 different languages from
Cowboys Stadium. The live broadcast begins at 6:00 p.m. EST, 3:00 p.m.
PST on Sunday, Feb. 6.
