The Bipartisan Policy Center Welcomes Former Senate Majority Leader Trent Lott

Senator Lott served in Congress for 35 years from 1973-2007 and held leadership positions in both the House of Representatives and Senate. He was Senate Majority Leader, and the only member to serve as both Senate and House Republican Whip. Senator Lott also founded the House's first modern whip organization, which encouraged regular member-to-member contacts and led extensive outreach to members of the opposite party to secure passage of major legislation. He currently serves as a Senior Counsel at Patton Boggs LLP.

"Senator Lott's extensive knowledge of Washington and the way politics works will be invaluable to the BPC. He will contribute greatly to our ongoing policy projects and assist the BPC in efforts related to elevating the public discourse and civility," said BPC Senior Fellow and former Agriculture Secretary Dan Glickman. Senator Lott joins a bipartisan group of Senior Fellows already at the BPC. This group includes former Senator Pete Domenici, former Senate Majority Leader Bill Frist, and former Secretary of Agriculture and Congressman Dan Glickman.
