FRESNO, Calif. - (BUSINESS WIRE) - Congressman Jeffrey "Jeff" Denham (R), the US Representative for California's 19th congressional district, visited Electronic Recyclers International's (ERI's) Fresno headquarters yesterday, February 1st, for a tour of the facility.

During his visit, Congressman Denham toured ERI, the leading recycler of electronic waste in the country, and viewed firsthand the company's example of running a sustainable and green business. He was also shown ERI's e-waste shredder, the largest and most efficient of its kind in the world. Denham also held a brief press conference from ERI during the event.

"Right here in Fresno we've got the largest electronic recycling facility anywhere in the nation, right here in my district, something I'm proud of," said Denham. "I never would have imagined the magnitude of the machinery behind us, or the amount of recycling that happens here. It really was quite an experience today."

Congressman Denham's tour of ERI's state-of-the-art electronic recycling facility enabled him to personally inspect the dismantling floor, electric forklifts, ceiling cameras for tracking waste, and the giant shredder so large it needs to be housed in a separate facility.

"This is a new industry, the electronic waste industry," said ERI Chairman and CEO John Shegerian, "and he wanted to come see it up close at the number one company in the United States. I give him so much credit for doing that. We are so honored and privileged that he came here and did that today."

"There's nothing else like this in the nation," added Denham, "and if they keep up with this business model it's only going to continue to grow. We hope that those jobs continue to grow right here locally."
