UnitedHealthcare Honored for Its Commitment to Workplace Diversity and Inclusion
MINNETONKA, Minn. - (BUSINESS WIRE) - UnitedHealthcare has received the 2010 LATINA Style 50 Award for
its firm commitment to workplace diversity and inclusion, and for
offering a work environment and programs that enable all employees to
excel.
The award, to be presented at the 13th Annual LATINA Style 50
Awards & Diversity Leaders Conference in Washington, D.C., Feb. 3,
recognizes UnitedHealthcare's ranking in the 2010 LATINA Style 50
Report (LS50) as one of the 50 best companies for Latinas to work for in
corporate America.
"Weaving the talent and different backgrounds and cultures of a diverse
population into our work force enhances our ability to meet the needs
and expectations of our customers and the communities we serve," said
Russ Bennett, vice president of UnitedHealthcare's Latino Health
Solutions program. "We are honored that LATINA Style has
recognized UnitedHealthcare's ongoing commitment to diversity and
inclusion."
Latino Health Solutions offers in-language, culturally relevant
resources to provide a better health care experience for
Spanish-speaking health plan customers and their employers. The program,
which has a Hispanic medical director, is available nationally to help
plan participants better understand and use their health benefits. It
also offers participants tools to best manage their health and the
health of their families including friendly, bilingual customer care
professionals, directories of Spanish-speaking doctors, and bilingual
websites with useful health and well-being information that addresses
common health issues of concern to Hispanics.
Launched in 1998, the Annual LATINA Style 50 is the most
respected evaluation of the best opportunities for the advancement of
Latinas in corporate America. This year, more than 800 companies were
extensively evaluated on an array of issues as they pertain to
Hispanics, including the number of women executives and board members,
education opportunities for employees, community outreach, employee
benefits, and mentorship and leadership programs.
"We have gone to great lengths to provide a reliable resource for
Latinas to evaluate companies, and after a year of research, we firmly
believe that the 2010 LATINA Style 50 truly represents some of
the best opportunities corporate America has to offer," said Robert E.
Bard, president and CEO of LATINA Style Inc.
The Diversity Leaders Conference focuses on the crucial issues facing
Hispanic women in the workplace. Sessions will include panels on "LATINA
Executives of the Year: Nurturing, Developing and Leading," "Empowering
