ROCKAWAY, N.J., Feb. 2, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- America's largest specialty party retailer, Party City, proudly announces its support of the American Heart Association's Go Red For Women movement during the month of February in celebration of American Heart Month. Party City launches a nationwide, in-store campaign through February 28 to raise donations for Go Red For Women's life-saving educational initiatives. Cardiovascular disease is still the leading cause of death among women, taking the life of 1 in 3 women each year. Together, Party City and Go Red For Women want to empower all women by raising awareness and helping them make healthy lifestyle changes. Party City customers can support the movement with dollar donations collected at the registers of its more than 600 retail stores. All donations will benefit the Go Red For Women movement.

"Women are at the heart of our business, and Party City customers include mothers, daughters, wives, sisters, brides and other women who plan special events throughout the year," says Lisa Laube, president of Party City. "By supporting Go Red For Women, we're able to encourage these women in a very important way."

In addition to the in-store donation drive, Party City aims to further engage consumers with an online national "Have a Heart" activity calendar on PartyCity.com that encourages women to spread heart awareness with fun and engaging weekly activities. The calendar inspires women to accessorize with red wearables for National Wear Red Day (Feb. 5), volunteer for their child's classroom Valentine's Day party, bake delicious Devil's Food Cake cupcakes, and host a "girls-night-in" party for your best girlfriends.

For more information about the partnership, or to download the "Have a Heart" activity calendar, visit PartyCity.com or the company's Facebook page (facebook.com/partycity).
