By Fayaz Wani
Srinagar, Feb 1: Two teenage sisters were shot dead by suspected militants in Indian administered Kashmir last evening.
A police spokesman said three Lashkar-e-Toiba militants (two Kashmiris and a foreigner) barged into the residential house of one Ghulam Nabi Dar at Muslim Peer, Sopore, some 55 kms North of Srinagar, the summer capital of Indian administered Kashmir on Monday evening. "The gunmen killed both the sisters at some distance from their house. Their bodies were recovered in the evening," he said.
He said two of three militants have been identified as Waseem Ahmad Ganie alias Sheer Yuni and Muzaffar Ahmad Naikoo alias Muz Molvi. "We have launched a massive manhunt to track down the militants responsible for the killings," the police spokesman said.
However, no militant group has owned the responsibility of the killing.
The father of the deceased girls has said he fails to understand why his girls were killed. "I don't know for what crime they were killed," he said.
Meanwhile, hundreds of people participated in the funeral prayers of the deceased girls amid sobs and tears.
