He has been employed by some of the top companies, including Lucent Technologies, Booz Allen & Hamilton, Lockheed Martin, Science Application International Corporation (SAIC), and Capgemini. Prior to working in the private sector, Dr. McCollum, a decorated Desert Storm veteran, served 13 years in the U.S. Air Force, where he held various Air Force specialties in the areas of information management and communications. As a scholar practitioner, Dr. McCollum has authored and published three books:

Dr. McCollum is an adjunct professor at several universities including Walden University, Upper Iowa University, and Argosy University. He holds a Ph.D. in applied management and decision sciences with a specialization in organizational change and leadership from Walden University, an M.A. from Webster University, and a B.S. in psychology from the State University of New York.
