Chicagoland Natural Gas Savings Program Impacts Chicago Homeowners' Wallets and Energy Efficiency

CHICAGO - (BUSINESS WIRE) - The Chicagoland Natural Gas Savings Program has provided more than $2 million in rebates, saved more than 800,000 therms of natural gas and prevented more than 7.5 million pounds of carbon dioxide from entering the atmosphere for 4,000 projects since 2008. The energy savings is the equivalent to the annual greenhouse gas emissions of approximately 650 vehicles. In 2011, the program will continue to offer rebates to Chicago homeowners for installing energy efficient natural gas heating equipment and attic installation in their homes.

"This year, thousands of families will replace their older model natural gas equipment," said Meena Beyers, Chicagoland Natural Gas Savings Program representative. "We want to ensure they select energy efficient models and take advantage of the rebates available though the program."

Homeowners can visit www.ChicagolandeRebates.com to get all the information they need to select the right project and equipment that qualifies for the program, hire a contractor and submit their application for a rebate.

Rebates from the Chicagoland Natural Gas Savings Program range from $50 to $850 and vary according to the project. In addition to rebates on energy efficient heating equipment, participants can earn incentives for completing attic insulation projects. Many older homes in Chicago are not equipped with attic insulation, which can cause loss of heat within the home and increase the use of natural gas. Attic insulation is one of the easiest and most affordable ways to make your home more energy efficient and comfortable.
